Long Time No SeeWell its been a while since I've been around here and alot of other people, we've been going through a re-vamp stage. We are re-purposing ourselves and restructuring. We currently have no modding projects in the works, but we have one mapping project going on. We are currently mapping a campaign for Left 4 Dead. Details will come out when we can release things. On top of this mapping project we are looking to help anyone with just about anything they are working on. Our experience is with C++, EventScripts, Python, Mapping Prefabs, Textures, some Modeling. I will put up a work order request area for people to request help in various things. Stay tuned for the latest things from Abscured Vision. We've scrapped the Learning Hammer Courses for now, we've kind of replaced this with the work order request area. We haven't ruled out that sometime in the future that we will reopen this but for the time being we don't want an empty void just sitting there gathering cobwebs. Antioch Manor is on hold for now. Creating this mod has been challenging and needs to have more than one person working on it for it to be successful. Big News UpdateThis is a grouping of several major announcements for Abscured Vision. It is with some restraint we have to announce we are shelving our Source Racing project. I know alot of people were really floored about this becoming a reality. The true reality is that we ran into alot of problems with very little solutions. Our major problem with the mod was getting a server to run successfully. We think the big problem was we were trying to run it on a Linux server and with us building it in Windows it causes problems. We hope in the next few weeks to maybe try to run it on a Windows server that we'd have access to but we have no guarentee that we will have much progress with it. We are not giving up on the mod, we've made several calls for help within the modding community to help us figure out this problem and when or if they come up with a solution we will pick back up and continue with the development of Source Racing. With us shelving Source Racing, we are able to announce the start of development of our next mod: Antioch Manor. It is a single player horror themed mod. We won't give up too much right away but we hope it will really get people to try a new way of playing Source based games. And finally we'd like to announce the beginning of AVP's Learning Hammer Courses. In the coming weeks our mappers and other members of the dev team will begin to produce free tutorials for anyone wanting to learn how to use Valve's mapping program Hammer. We'll keep you posted on where this will be located and how to participate. Thanks again for your support and keep it tuned as we have many other developments on the way. Steam Community Page CreatedWe now have a steam community page to help get the word out when we make updates to mods and our website. Join it so you can get the updates we make through steam!<Source Racing Update 8/16We've moved forward in our progress in compiling a multiplayer engine for the game. We are confident we have worked out most of the bugs but are awaiting inital server testing. In the mean time, if you are a mapper we've released 2 Prefabs to assist you in successfully mapping for Source Racing: Garage Prefab and Multiplayer Vehicle Prefab. These two prefabs are made specifically to work in the Source Racing engine to allow multiplayer vehicles. The garage prefab is just a generic prefab to set up a possible spawn point in a map. Mapping techniques and instructions for Source Racing will be released when we fully release the mod, so stay tuned for the tutorials. Source Racing Closed Beta ReleasedTonight we have started our Closed Beta program of the upcoming HL2 mod Source Racing. This being a "Closed Beta", only invited people will have the chance to try out and help us develop the mod as we move forward towards an "Open Beta". In the coming weeks we are going to develop the mod more into a final product. We have no tentative date of when the "Open Beta" or the final release will be done but we expect to have more information as the next few weeks progresses. If you were not selected to be part of the "Closed Beta" please forgive us as we only want the best feedback from our trusted testers. As in everything in life there is a silver lining. If you sign up to our forums, we'll make sure when we do go to "Open Beta" you will be the first to know. We will announce on our forums when we are expecting the "Open Beta" to begin a few days before we actually open it up. The "Open Beta" will probably take place for about two weeks before we will close all beta's to prepare for the final release. So getting involved with the "Open Beta" will get you as close to our final product as we can before actually coming out with it. There are many good things coming to Abscured Visions and soon we'll all be racing up a storm! New Webpage ContructionSome of you might have noticed a change as you came to visit our forums. I have taken down the redirect to the forums and created its own web page. This is a work-in-progress and things will be changing constantly on it till I get it built to my satisfaction. If you have any ideas or suggestions please let me know. Thanks and enjoy! |
